For the past many years I have been privileged to travel to a few foreign countries. Many times to Canada before a passport was needed and then to Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, France, Italy and Hungary. I say privileged because these countries do not have to welcome me or any one else but they allow visitors for pleasure and work as we do in the USA. A passport was required and check-in and customs checks were required but I was free to move about the country as I wished. They expected me to follow their laws and customs while I was their guest.
The US requires the same for visitors to this country with a reason for being here. Education and work visas are given freely to those that are eligible and visitors are welcome with passports. These are not permanent and those visitors have to leave or request extensions to their stay. This is pretty much the same as other friendly countries. A person that enters the US by crossing a border without proper credentials and check-ins has committed a crime and is an illegal alien to be deported when apprehended. This is the law and those elected officials that are in charge of maintaining those laws are expected to protect our citizens by preventing unknown persons from entering our country. This is pretty simple if you think of it and is no different than any other law that protects us such as those against stealing and robbery or traffic laws. So why are we in turmoil over deporting illegal aliens that have broken our laws to come here? I don't understand that many say that to do so is a threat to our democracy but those that turned a blind eye when the illegals entered the country and broke our laws are not trying to destroy our democracy.
I understand compassion and giving asylum to people that are under threat in their home country but most of the aliens that entered our country illegally were seeking better chances at receiving higher pay and taking advantage of our way of life. They were not being threatened by their governments or in dire situations. Rather than seeking admission on work visas or normal lawful immigration they decided to break our law and take the shorter route. By doing so they lost their chance of ever becoming an American citizen and joining the greatest land of immigrants ever in the world.
Rather than asking our elected leaders to follow the laws of the land many are rioting and parading in our cities demanding that we disobey our laws and become a land of anarchists which is a real threat to our democracy. Our last president and his administration aided and abetted criminal aliens to illegally enter our country and called those against this policy names like racist or haters and on and on. We are close to losing our country if the rule of law is not restored both within and at the borders of our country. I really, do not understand how anyone could riot to persuade our elected leaders to continue to break the laws of the land.
