GOOD IS BAD

A few years ago, just after I retired, I started writing. My first attempts were two non-fictions: Oops We Lost Our Values and Definitions. After success with these I decided to write a novel. The first was Banking on Murder followed by a sequel Bad is Good. All of these are still available on
Amazon. Lately Bad is Good has taken on a new meaning for me but in another way. It now is good is bad. It is on the news every day and getting worse. We see assumed good people supporting criminals over victims. Cities and, yes, even two states have decided to release violent criminals without cash bail. As I understand the reasoning behind the movement toward this it still does not make any sense. Supposedly, this effort is to bring equality to those that cannot afford to put up bail and languish in prison before their trials whereas those with enough wealth can pay their bail and be free until their trials. The effort is meritus but has become dangerous because it has been extended to very dangerous criminals who repeat offenses as soon as they are released with many committing murders. Our system of justice is the best in the world but is much better for those that have enough money to pay for the best lawyers and put up the required bail. Trying to give equal justice to those that cannot afford the same has been the reason for many of the bail and sentencing reforms in the last few years. What has not happened in those reforms is the recognition of the dangerous criminal and repeat offender that are receiving the benefits that were created to help the poor defender. The victim has become the scapegoat in this with the freed felon continuing to commit crimes and not being locked up in a jail to protect the public. There does not seem to be any movement by our elected officials to remedy this and the people that keep voting for these reformers are the ones paying the price of being victimized.

The extension of these reforms has led many in this country of whom many are democrats to believe that feeling sorry for someone is a good reason to break the laws of the land. In the last twenty years there has been a great increase in illegal aliens pouring into our country. It has always been a problem but for years it solved a farm worker problem and was overlooked for the most part. The last few years the worker part has been overshadowed by the illegal drugs coming into our country and with the open border policy of the Biden administration it allowed many countries to empty their prisons and let them come into our country to join the gangs of the drug cartels. We, now have an administration that has started to enforce the laws of the land to deport those that are here illegally especially the criminals that have been ravaging many inner cities with crime and drugs. The police force in charge of this is called ICE and they have become very effective in removing the criminal element in the illegal alien population. Somehow many democratic cities have responded with sanctuary status to protect the illegal alien and include the criminal element also. This is where we see the good is bad situation. Good people including housewives and college students are joining in to protest the ICE policemen as they round up the illegal to deport them. The supposedly good people are refusing to allow the law of the land to be enforced or trying to which in itself is a criminal act. Good has become bad and anarchy is alive and well in many cities in our country. Breaking the law is the same for the illegal alien and the people that support their sanctuary. They both are criminals and the politicians that have made this effort to fight against the government are also part of the problem with their refusal to follow their sworn duty to support the Constitution and the laws of the land. Yes, we have a large contingent of good people that are bad in their efforts to be good.

The elected officials that are refusing to support our country and its laws are tearing the country apart and causing great harm to the victims of those they are protecting. They care more about criminals than they do for their constituents. Creating victims seems to be their greatest achievement.
