EULOGY: DR WILBUR SINE

A young boy born in Hundred West Virginia, grew up working on a farm and attending the local school. Little did he know that GOD had given him the talent of healing. He went on to undergraduate school and then worked his way through medical school. He told me that he worked in a steel mill and believed that was the cause of his hearing loss in later years. I met Dr Sine when he became our company doctor years ago and then later after he retired. We had coffee together three or four times a week with other retirees and discussed any and all topics. We became friends and enjoyed each other's company as well as the others in our group.

A few weeks ago, Wilbur had just returned from a trip to Florida, and he told me that he never left his condo because of pain in his hip. Before that he had been walking five miles a day. When he returned, he went to his doctor expecting that he needed a hip replacement, but an x-ray revealed a tumor that was causing his pain. A week later during our coffee meeting he told me that a scan had revealed more tumors involving more organs and the prognosis was not good. He said that a cure was not possible but lengthening life would be the goal. I was devastated and shocked. My friend had gone from five miles a day to not being to walk across the room in a very short time.

I had given Wilbur a book about miracles by Dr. Segal just a few days before this revelation and immediately started to pray for a miracle to happen for Doc. A couple of days later as I was reading Kings II in the Bible the story of Hezekiah asking Isaiah about his illness and Isaiah told him to put his things in order because he was going to die. Hezekiah prayed to the Lord telling him that he had always obeyed the law and wished for more life. Isaiah returned and said that GOD had heard his prayer and was giving him fifteen more years of life. He was to put a poultice of figs on his boil. I was ecstatic because I knew that Wilbur loved fig newtons. Between the book of miracles and the Bible story I prayed even harder for a miracle to heal my good friend. I got the message from Wilbur's wife on Monday March 16, 2026, that Wilbur had died that morning. Stunned again I started trying to understand why GOD had not listened to my prayer as if telling GOD something should be put on top of his list. It took a while, but I cooled down and realized that some prayers are not ignored but are not GOD's will but my will.

After reading the obituary and talking to other of Wilbur's friends GOD's message to me about my prayer became evident. I had been praying for a miracle while all of the time I had been given the privilege and blessing to meet and befriend a miracle. The miracle was Doctor Wilbur Sine himself, the little boy from Hundred West Virginia that had accepted GOD's talents and returned them not once or five times or even ten times but thousands of times. He had not just become a doctor to heal his patients but developed a clinic that could heal many at the same time and without an appointment. He told me after his diagnosis that he regretted that he could not go back to Honduras with a suitcase full of candy for the kids he treated. He was a miracle to them also.

If you are feeling bad tomorrow, you can still go to Wedgewood clinic without an appointment and see a medical professional thanks to Dr. Sine. My only prayer now is that I am good enough to meet him again someday in Heaven. Goodbye my friend for now.
