1st AMENDMENT PART 3

It was 1800, and John Adams was President of the United States of America with Thomas Jefferson as Vice President. Adams was running for a second term and Jefferson was running against him. Hamilton composed a 50-page pamphlet that was published to defame Adams and John was quoted to say that it would cause him to lose the election. He lost and Jefferson and Burr were tied for electoral votes with the House voting for Jefferson. A publication was given the credit for Adam's loss.

1st AMENDMENT PART 1

The first amendment to the Constitution was written by James Madison and is one of the most important measures of freedom in the world. It gives religious, speech and press freedom that at that time had never been available to anyone in the world. It differentiated the new United States of America from all other counties and set the new country on a course of greatness, The gift of religious freedom to the citizens of this new country was something that they had wished for many years and most of them had come to this country, or their forbearers had for religious freedom. The Pilgrims, Puritans, Quakers, Congregationalists and even the Roman Catholics. The Pilgrims and Puritans with the Congregationalists were mostly living in the Northeast in Mass, NY, RI and Conn while the Quakers were settled in Penn. The Roman Catholics were mostly in Md with the rest dispersed among the thirteen colonies. It was said that a Quaker that was caught in Virginia for the third time was hanged. The British extracted a tax to support the Church of England which is still true today. Everyone paid the tax whether or not they attended that, Church. The freedom of religion that many of the people came to the new land for was not available. The first amendment corrected that by stating that the state or country would not establish a Church and that citizens could not be forced to not practice their respective religion. It was a freedom that opened the new country to all and any religion without government interference. It was historic at the time and had never been available before to anyone in any country. The religious freedom started in the new Virginia Constitution which was written by Madison and Jefferson and Jefferson's influence pushed Madison to agree to this concept,

CONFUSION

It's been a while since i have written anything. I was stunned by the midterm elections and did not know what to say without cussing. I'm not sure what people that vote are voting for anymore but do know that a lot of votes were for things that are destroying our country. The cities of New York, Rochester and Buffalo are experiencing very high crime rates that have grown in the last 2 years, but the voters voted for the governor that insists that letting those arrested for heinous crimes be released without bail. We have seen those released repeat their crimes over and over and have committed murder and assault when they should have been behind bars but apparently the majority of voters in New York want this to stay as the status quo. The same problem exists in Maryland with Baltimore and Pennsylvania with Philadelphia, but the voters elected to not do anything about the problem by removing those that have installed the system that gives criminals more freedom than residents. At the same time all of these cities have reduced the police budgets and have prosecuting attorneys that will not charge many of those being arrested. We have seen many shops and drug stores leave cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles because of the shop lifting problem and the lack of politicians and DAs of prosecuting these crimes. If fact stealing less than $1000. is not a crime any more in many cities. I'm confused!

ELECTION BABBLE

During the last few days we have heard the candidates making their last pleas for our votes. Our president and three former presidents have also, been on the campaign trail trying to help their parties. While one would expect a lot of rhetoric from them I did not expect pure lies and accusations from former presidents and our present president. If you vote republican, you will destroy democracy, you will lose your Social Security and Medicare, etc. Pure hatred and divisiveness when we should be looking at the real problems. This is the party that has decided that a man can have a baby or abortions have been banned and one historian told us that our children would be killed. Felons are being let ot without bail and continuing to commit crimes with two recent murders in New York City. Chicago is seeing shootings and murders in the tens and twenties each week and New Orleans has become the murder capital with more murders per 100,000 people than any other city in America. It takes twelve months of salary to buy eleven months of food, clothing and shelter now but voting against those that are running our country into socialism will destroy democracy.  We can't destroy it because they have all ready done that. Voting against the destroyers is the only way to return to some normalcy in our country, reduce crime and stop runaway inflation. Two of our former presidents seem to be ready to continue the destruction and most of the media is enjoying it.
