PROTEST THE PROTEST

I have had a bad week. One of my ministers at my church wrote back to me that he was upset with me because I had written in a previous blog that it was easier to get into Walmart than it was to get into church. I had written to him about reading the scripture lesson from his cell phone. The other pastor did not like me pointing out his ideology when he posted that he did not care for the president with the Bible and compared him to Clinton at his impeachment. So you see that I am being prayed for because I don’t like cell phones in church services, and I don’t like that after a night of rioting and burning stores, a church with the president holding a Bible was the most important thing to write about. The drug that I am taking to control an autoimmune disease has side effects that are bothering me and making me irritable.

America is protesting again, and it’s for the same reason as the last few protests. Ferguson, Baltimore and now Minneapolis have been the scene of police crimes against Black men, which resulted in their deaths. Each was different but it happened. In Ferguson, the police officer was fighting for his life. In Baltimore, the police were transporting a person in a haphazard way, but a Minneapolis policeman held a man down with a knee on his neck until dead. The officer has been arrested and charged along with the two officers who were standing by but not stopping the deadly action. They should be held accountable for Mr. Floyd’s death and be punished appropriately. So protest against police brutality is once again in the streets of most of the major cities in the US. Peaceful demonstrations are one thing but these protests have caused the deaths of three more Black men, all police officers, and wounded another one, and hundreds of minority businesses have been looted and burned along with some major department stores such as Macy’s and Target. A large number of people have been injured and some killed trying to protect their stores. It is happening night after night and has caused many governors to call in the National Guard to aid police in protection from more looting and burning. It seems that our country is on fire and there is no way out, and this, after weeks of quarantine and business closures. All of a sudden the pandemic and threat of Covid-19 infection have become non-existent with mobs of people congregating together with celebs and politicians to voice their protests.

I am trying to understand what people are expecting to happen because of this widespread protest and riot. I do not believe that killing policemen, especially Black officers, is going to change the way police feel about arresting anybody. They are going to fear for their lives every time they have to confront a suspect. The Democratic mayors of some of the cities that have been hit the hardest have suggested, and even plan to vote on, proposals to eliminate, reduce or take away funding of their police forces. Some have refused help from the National Guard and let their cities burn. I tried to watch the news on ABC, but their first items were all about police brutality with video showing people being arrested or forced to move from a restricted area. The rioters were the last to receive coverage, but it was in a positive light as if they had a right to destroy other people’s property and assault them. Stories were made up by the media when they could not find something to report that put Trump in a bad light, such as the use of tear gas and rubber bullets to allow him to walk to the burned church. The report was false no matter how many times Acosta repeatedly asked the question. The reporters for many of the news outlets are giving opinion when they try to ask a question, and they do not accept the answer when it doesn’t fit their agenda. It has made it nearly impossible to find out the real facts and expose the troublemakers.

The protests in the past have not helped their protestors’ cause, but the opposite has happened. The actions of those who looted and burned have hardened hearts rather than cause them to change to a more understanding place in the cause being protested. The protestors have become the abettors of the rioters’ crimes and built the platform upon which the riots, looting, burning and even murder has been possible. The protestors are as guilty of abetting the murder of the three Black police officers as the officers who stood by as Mr. Floyd was killed. The protests in Baltimore have caused the deaths of hundreds in the aftermath as the police had to pull back their patrols in the high crime areas. The murder rate in the city has doubled. Once again the protestors were the abettors of the looting and burning of businesses and the later rise in crime. I cannot find any good outcome of marching in the streets and rioting since the civil rights movement and those violent protests held back the work of Dr. King just as these present protests are prolonging the hatred that many feel towards each other now.

Reduce or eliminate the police forces and take away the citizens' right to own firearms and then let everybody protect themselves with what? This is the left’s answer to one man being brutalized by one police officer. Let the rioter loot and burn and assault when they want to and do not call on the Army or National Guard to defend the citizenry. Every man for himself, except with a socialistic society the politicians would be protected by their armies and secret police. If you don’t believe it read some history books. Temporarily depriving a whole city and destroying the business community within will never stop hate and racism but only increase it. There is only one answer and that is Jesus Christ. His death should have been enough for all of us to turn to Him and learn how to love our neighbor and love our enemy also. He is the only answer.

MAY GOD HELP US ALL AND FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE FORGOTTEN HIM.
